Another Bryson read...
Completely fascinating "short history of private life". This book goes way beyond just the home and why we have the rooms we do and what function they serve. Using his own house as a jumping off point (an old English parsonage), Bryson takes us through each room and the history of each, including technologies contained within.
This one was a bit slow for me, but it was so interesting that I just had to keep reading! Lots of historical fact here, (I can't imagine the research that went into writing this book!) so if that doesn't interest you, you should probably pass this one by.
