"Day After Night" by Anita Diamant

This book is from the same author as The Red Tent. Day After Night tells the story of 4 Jewish girls who after WWII immigrated to Israel. They meet in a British camp for displaced persons with no papers and form a bond when the 'prisoners' learn of a plan to escape the camp and start living the rest of their lives.
An interesting read about a true event that I don't think anyone knows about. Quite a few political parts, but I just read past them to get to the girls' story.

i have read this one before, but i don't think i finished it. you are right about the political parts, and i think there were just too many of those for me to get past. so i chucked it. but you're right, it's a story that hasn't been told very often.
