Trudy is a 40-50 something year old woman who is researching the lives of WWII survivors, from the German perspective. Her mother, Anna, is a WWII survivor. The story goes back and forth between Trudy and Anna's stories.
I am quite drawn to WWII era novels/memoirs, so I found this appealing.
