Sage is a twenty something baker who meets Josef, an elderly man who frequents the bakery where she works. The two become friends and Sage learns Josef used to be a Nazi soldier. Being a (non practicing) Jew, Sage has a major issue with that, especially since her grandmother is a Holocaust survivor. Going back and forth between Minka (the grandmother) and Josef's point of view, we see how the two were a part of each others lives during the war.
A great read, very intriguing!
