"Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn

This is a darker and more twisted novel than "Gone Girl" and I was actually glad when it ended because it was a bit disturbing.

I can't remember any character names of course, but there's this girl who is a reporter in Chicago and her boss sends her back home (down South somewhere) to cover some disturbing kidnappings/murders of young teenage girls. Being back home with her mother, stepfather and stepsister is very disturbing to her and she struggles to maintain her composure. There is drugs, drinking, sex, etc., until the truth comes out. It's a bit weird and like I said, disturbing at times.

I could not read this one. Tried it, but it was too awful!
